Cheshire and Warrington businesses and visitors invited to celebrate English Tourism Week 2026
Marketing Cheshire is encouraging businesses, partners and visitors to celebrate the region’s vibrant visitor economy as English Tourism Week returns from 13–22 March 2026.
Led by VisitEngland, the annual campaign shines a spotlight on the importance of tourism to local communities and the national economy, highlighting the sector’s role in supporting businesses, jobs and growth across England.
The strapline for this year’s campaign is ‘Local Stories, National Growth,’ recognising the economic importance of the industry. In Cheshire and Warrington alone, recent figures show that the visitor economy contributes more than £4.2bn a year and supports almost 40,000 jobs.
Tourism businesses across Cheshire and Warrington, from world-class attractions and cultural venues to independent accommodation, hospitality and experiences, therefore play a vital role in the region’s economy
English Tourism Week also provides an opportunity to recognise the excellence of the region’s tourism industry following the recent Visit Cheshire Tourism Awards 2026, which celebrated the outstanding businesses and individuals helping make the region one of England’s most attractive visitor destinations.
Jamie Christon, Chair of Marketing Cheshire and CEO of Chester Zoo, said:
“English Tourism Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the businesses and people who make Cheshire such a welcoming and inspiring destination. Our visitor economy is built on the passion and creativity of local tourism and hospitality businesses, and their contribution to jobs, communities and the wider economy cannot be overstated.
The success of this year’s Visit Cheshire Tourism Awards winners shows the strength and quality of our tourism sector. English Tourism Week is the perfect moment to champion those achievements and encourage even more people to discover everything our region has to offer.”
Throughout the week, businesses across the region are encouraged to join the national campaign by sharing their stories, highlighting visitor experiences and promoting what makes Cheshire unique using the hashtag #EnglishTourismWeek26.
The celebrations also lead into another key date in the regional calendar, Cheshire Day on 30 March, when residents and visitors come together to celebrate the county’s heritage, culture and world-class attractions.
