Tatton Park’s Farm Manager wins national Visit England Unsung Hero Award!
Tatton Park is delighted to announce that Jayne Chapman, Manager of Tatton Park’s Farm, has been recognised as an Unsung Hero at the Visit England Awards for Excellence 2026, presented at Aerospace Bristol on Wednesday 3 June.
Carole Hyde, Head of Rural and Cultural Economy at Tatton Park said “Everyone here is incredibly proud of Jayne; this recognition is truly deserved and reflects her outstanding leadership, dedication, and lasting impact within the tourism sector. It highlights her ability to inspire others through exceptional commitment and a determination to go above and beyond in her role.”
From Animal Lover to Rare Breeds Champion and Community Hero
Jayne has dedicated 35 years to Tatton Park, progressing from Farm Assistant to Farm Manager in 2009. Her passion for animals, education, and wellbeing has transformed the farm into a vibrant, inclusive space welcoming thousands of visitors annually. “I want visitors to go home with a love for the animals and the outdoors,” she says, a vision reflected in initiatives that promote accessibility, including weekly visits from a Cheshire East Council social care group supporting adults with anxiety. Her supportive leadership has also fostered a close-knit team of five Farm Assistants and thirty-six volunteers who share the rewards and challenges of farm life.
A strong advocate for rare breeds, Jayne has played a key role in conservation efforts, including Tatton Park’s adoption scheme and an innovative project with the British Breeds Revival Trust to help protect the Native Jersey Cow. Her influence extends beyond the farm through community partnerships, event representation, and collaborations such as cookery demonstrations with Michelin-starred chef Aiden Byrne. Widely respected for her dedication, innovation, and community spirit, Jayne has made a lasting impact on both visitors and colleagues alike, inspiring a shared passion for the countryside, strengthening community connections, and creating a supportive environment where people and animals thrive. Receiving this latest award, alongside last year’s Unsung Hero Award at the Visit Cheshire Tourism Awards and a 2024 Rural and Recovery Award from the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, marks long-overdue recognition for this true unsung hero.
