Chester Reports Impressive Uplift in Attendance at Boodles May Festival
As the Boodles May Festival draws to a close, Chester Racecourse has reported an impressive uplift in attendance across the three days.
The racecourse reported attendance was up by 6% compared to the 2025 Festival.
The second day, Ladies Day, was reported to have had the highest increase for the racecourse, with 14,500 guests in attendance, 11% up on last year.
Chester Race Company has attributed the success to increased investment in marketing, encouraging wider audience groups to visit alongside returning guests and improved guest experience. Namely, newly added catering offerings, improved facilities across the Paddock area and an improved schedule of entertainment.
But most importantly, the racing improves year on year. The calibre of runners and riders continue to rise, with Chester seeing huge success for the likes of Lambourn and Minnie Hauk in The Derby and Oaks last year.
Aidan O'Brien dominated again this year, taking all five Listed and Group races over the three days for the first time ever, so the track will be hoping to see further success from the Chester graduates.
Louise Stewart, Chief Executive Officer at Chester Race Company, said: “This increase in attendance is a direct reflection of the team’s huge effort to improve every guest and equine touchpoint over recent years.
“The on-course guest experience has always been especially unique, with our facilities allowing people to get close to the action. This year, our guests can enjoy more racing, hospitality and entertainment than ever.
“As always, the racing and grounds teams work extremely hard to provide industry-leading facilities that attract top class horses and trainers, which ultimately results in the best sporting experience for everyone.”
Chester Racecourse is looking forward to racing again on Saturday 30th May for Roman Day. For further information and to book tickets, visit https://www.chester-races.com/
